Chester Co. TN--Spring Plots 2012

This farm belongs to another TNDEER member, whom Ive gotten to do alot of plotting work for.  This is our second year, and we have had some ups and downs, but we are getting a handle on what works!

Just as an update, our fall plots are looking great!!! I could not be more pleased with the results!  What we have here is  Whitetail Inst. Clover-Chicory Mix, that we topdressed with my fall mix of Winter Wheat, Oats, and Austrian Winter Peas.
In the above picture, you can see what a great stand we had!!! A perfect cover crop for our clover!!!

In this area that we worked down, we are planting WI PowerPlant.  It consist of Soybeans, Sorghum, Sunflowers, and Iron Clay Peas.  I am looking foward to seeing how it turns out!!

Eagle Bean Micro Plots!!!

This property belongs to a great guy that I came into contact with from one of my favorite websites, TNDEER.COM

Richards farm is a work in progress, and he is doing some awesome things with it.   Dozens of fruit trees, new food plots,  Timber stand improvements, and areas that are so thick that deer can bed in a few feet from feeding.

In these small micro plots, we turned under some Winter Wheat and Crimson Clover, to plant some Eagle Soybeans.

Enjoy these pictures and I hope to have some updates in a few weeks!

Signs of Spring!!!

This is my second favorite time of year!  Harvest time is my favorite, but Spring Planting time is a close second!

My two little boys love nothing more than seeing tractors and planters, and sprayers taking to the fields!  Enjoy these pictures Ive snapped this spring in our area!

Boy, times flies!!!

Where has the time gone???  It seems only yesterday that I was wishing you a Happy New Year, and here it is now Mid April!!!

What a crazy 2012 it has been!  Little to no winter, and now a early spring that has farmers putting seed in the ground a month ahead of schedule.

While I was ready to get started plotting here at my farm, I fought the urge too, and it was a good decision as we had a couple of hard frost last week.

I do have some spraying done here at home, and hope to get some plots going this weekend.

Also have a Power Plant Plot ready to go in Chester County, TN and I think we are going to get some Eagle Seed Forage Beans in the ground in Perry County, TN this week as well!

Let get out there and get our hands dirty!
